All bets were off, the room was up for grabs, and the sky was the limit at the Whitman Coin Expo in Baltimore last week. Stack’s Bowers Galleries, the official auctioneer, issued not one but seven catalogs and sold nearly 10,000 lots! Price records rose left and right, especially for colonial and early American coins. The Baker Collection of Washingtoniana was an event to be remembered, and ditto for the John W. Adams Collection of Comitia Americana medals.

As if this was not enough, the annual meeting of the Colonial Coin Collectors Club drew members from far and wide. The U.S. Mint launched a special dollar that drew long lines of buyers, with Mint Director David Ryder on hand to meet and greet visitors.

As you read these words it is not too early to plan for the NEXT Whitman Coin Expo at the Baltimore Convention Center on March 19 to 21, 2020. If you would like to consign to the auction, contact Stack’s Bowers Galleries. For more information concerning the Expo itself, contact Whitman. You are guaranteed to have a great time!
